Star Ratings are not Just for Looks - Understanding how they impact your SEO
Star Ratings are not Just for Looks
Have you noticed how those star ratings stand out in the Google search result pages? An aspect Google is always interested in is enriching the user experience in the search engine result listings and Google pays particular attention to the use of "rich snippets" such as star ratings. These star ratings in fact will assist with boosting your product rankings in the search engines providing they have been set up correctly. It also is a great endorsement for your products with your customers when they visit your online web store.
If you have an online store then you should seriously consider setting up such a star rating facility. For our Business Catalyst clients this can be a rather straight forward add-on to your existing shopping site. This should not however, be confused with the rating option that BC provides with its comment module. Whilst this appears to be the same thing, it is treated quite differently to what Google needs where we have to make use of Google's "rich snippet microdata".
We do however have an answer that utilises the BC web app module and allows us to build a fully functional Rating & Review feature for your website that will provide:
The ability for buyers to give feedback comments
All buyers to give a star rating on your products
Automatically drive the average score for your products based on the ratings given across all feedback
To display the scores and the basis of those scores in your product pages and clearly visible in the Google search results
If you would like to know more about this or have us set this feature in place in your own online store then contact us and we can provide full details to you.
