Yes it is. You may not see the value of using Facebook for yourself but this is not the only form of social bookmarking. It just happens to be the biggest.
Every little link counts! If you can get them easily and at no cost, then even better. Social bookmarking delivers to this beautifully. It also puts your name, your brand and your products in front of other people who though they most likely won’t do anything the first time they see your name, with continual references and sightings it will create an awareness, even if only at the subconscious level.
There are also social networks that exist for us more mature users if Facebook leaves you uncomfortable. There are a number of social networks focused on developing business networks. Other choices of which I am a member in each

So why do we join these networks? As I said before, every little link can be send, they are free.
They can also be of value in seeking out people you may wish to contact as business associates or even as potential customers.
A tip I will share with you. Build yourself a standard profile in your word processor and fill in details about yourself, your job, your business, your work history, your website etc. Be sure to include your photo and business logo. Save this.
At each social network you have to register it becomes easier to fill in your profile as you can cut and paste from your standard profile.
